They are popular and they rack up millions of views. If you are a proud pet lover as we are, then you can relate to this article. So here’s what we think. Our six (6) reasons why pet videos are so popular.
1. You see novel things
When other people share videos of their pets in action, you get to see all the novel things that pets get up to, especially when they are alone. LOL. I mean when you see cats opening the fridge to get food, that’s just crazy and shocking. But you want to see more of what these pets get up to.
Even a simple thing like a cute little puppy trying hard not to fall asleep next to a baby. Who can resist that? Or the cat who took on the dog, when said dog tried to attack the little boy while he was riding his bike. Cat vs dog, and cat wins? Who would have thought?
2. Educational value
As human beings there are lots of lessons we can learn fro animals. The prevailing notion was that cats and dogs can’t get along. But they do and they get along with other animals as well. It’s just we humans who don’t want to get along with each other.
3. Pet videos are, um, addictive?
The thing about it, is that you set out to look at one video that might be in your video or Google feed and the next thing you know, you’re watching another video, and another… Can you relate? It’s as if watching one video just wasn’t enough. Especially if there is a cute thumbnail on the video. Oh man, those furry cats and cute dogs are just so darn entertaining.
4. Entertainment value
Need we say more? The fact that these pets get up to all these antics, these videos provide some great entertainment value across the board. The cat that decides he’s just not going to walk anymore and decides to play dead. Or the dog who realizes that he’s about to got o the vet and throws a fit. LOL. Sometimes they behave like children.
5. Keeping balance
Truth be told, we’d rather look at pet videos to relax, rather than be stressed about all that might be wrong in world. It’s said that if you read negative articles you need to balance that out with some positive stuff. That sounds about right, doesn’t it? You just can’t be saturated with a whole bunch of negative things day after day. Watching pet videos is a good way to balance out the negatives.
6. Pet videos are relaxing
Last but by no means least, pet videos are relaxing. Come on now, sure you can agree with that. There are so many crazy things happening in the world thee days, that sometimes you just need to focus on something else. There is nothing more relaxing than watching cute animals interact with each other. Well, that’s debatable. The beach can also be relaxing. But you can’t always find yourself by the beach to relax. Watching pet videos is a good way to de-stress.
